A quick recap of the week

week review 2011-04-29

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Sunday Soapbox: Kim is conflicted about a UFO landing on Hoosick Street in Troy.

+ Akum stacked up cloth diaper services in the Capital Region.

+ Liz talked with the owner of the Home Front Cafe in Altamont about why honoring veterans feels like a calling.

+ Both Salt and The Other Guys are now available on Netflix streaming -- so we jumped ahead to the good parts (that would be parts with Albany).

+ Eat this: the flat iron steak with herbed butter at Garden Bistro 24.

+ Akum read the epitaphs were Robert Frost is buried.

+ Upstate New York is yogurt country.

+ Sheep are being put to work at Albany's Normanskill Farm (OK, their job is eating, but it's still a job).

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: free burrito day, Easter, going out of your way, the Hudson Valley, Adventure in Food, frozen yogurt, unopened beer, opened beer, gourmet stores, pizza, a scenic drive, and beavers.

+ Akum had lunch at Eggy's Place -- which is actually a truck, that serves up lunch with a side attitude.

+ Leading candidate for most beautiful library in the Capital Region: the Troy main library.

+ Crystal asked for tips on renting a house.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: a desire to stock someone's shelves, a weird place for a hookup, and prom dresses of questionable taste.

+ We checked out the new Saratoga Olive Oil Company.

+ From a famous Fountain Day photo to the Weather Channel.

+ Liz visited the people at Wellington's Herbs and Spices in Schoharie.

+ And we Kaitlin and Carey picked the winners of the Best Cleaners spring refresh.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
