A quick recap of the week

week review 2011-06-25

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Soapbox: Martin talked about making it work as a one-car household.

+ Casey created a fun panel for AOA's sponsored entry in the River Street Festival's street painting competition.

+ More little anti-frackers showed up -- and someone stepped forward as the organizer.

+ We gave away tickets to the Saratoga Jazz Fest at SPAC by asking people how'd they spend the summer solstice.

+ Albany was invaded by NYC taxis.

+ Eat this: Baked BBQ Pork Buns at Hong Kong Bakery

+ It's Abobo, all over -- which prompted a discussion about art and vandalism.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: the brake pedal, streetcars, weddings, unforeseen consequences, biking to work, ethics, beer, a brunch buffet, sushi, whipped cream, Guinness, tax dollars, strawberries, a snapper, and handcuffs.

+ We went hunting for this year's Sculpture in the Streets.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: a unicorn, the boring and broke, a hookah, alpacas.

+ We asked people about their favorite summer memories as part of a giveaway of a dinner for two at Taste on the Fourth of July.

+ The Radix Center got a giant check.

+ Jimmer was taken with the 10th pick in the NBA draft.

+ Movies crews were in search of places beyond the pines.

+ Pasquale's -- the two-time Tournament of Pizza champ -- is for sale.

+ We built a tiny site to track ask the question: Is same-sex marriage legal in New York, yet?

+ And now we have an answer: yes, very soon.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

What's All Over Albany?

All Over Albany is for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. In other words, it's for you. It's kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who can help you find out what's up. Oh, and our friends call us AOA.
