A quick recap of the week

week review 2011-03-25

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Kim stepped up to the Sunday Soapbox to tell people to stop whining and start doing.

+ E asked about finding a good eyebrow person.

+ We met the people behind Greenwich-based Puckers Gourmet pickles, Jude and Kelley Goldman.

+ While standing in Schenectady's historic post office, we took a moment to consider the postal service.

+ Liz went for a moon walk in Moreau.

+ Daniel B went exploring at Adventures in Food Trading.

+ Akum talked with the dairies that offer home milk delivery in the Capital Region. (Apparently you haven't had milk until you've had it delivered fresh from the cow to your house.)

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: continuing the conversation, dogs and vodka, the Tombstone burger, a hole in the wall, corned beef, soft serve, cupcakes, a meat cake, pedicures, waterfalls, trivia, an angel, and Bandit.

+ Akum's stylist asked about downtown Albany lunch spots that deliver.

+ Carl told us about an attempt to compile a library that only included authors from Albany.

+ You want Jimmer on that wall -- you need Jimmer on that wall!

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: an impatient vampire, disdain for sucky prima-donna wimp drummers, weed connection, and a "Ghillie suit."

+ Stephanie asked about finding a good church.

+ Albany played a role in Houdini's last act.

+ Population totals from the 2010 US Census are out -- and the Capital Region added population (also, a easy-to-scan breakdown of local city and town population totals).

+ An art exhibit in Troy was all about failure.

There were some great answers to the AOA birthday present drawings:

+ What is the spiciest thing about the Capital Region?

+ What are the little things about the Capital Region that make you happy?

+ What's your favorite Capital Region pick-me-up?

+ What's interesting about your neighborhood?

+ What's your favorite thing to share in the Capital Region?

And a collection of tweets and pics from the AOA birthday party. Thanks to everyone who celebrated with us! We'll have photos on Monday.

If you'd just like the whole week unfiltered, check our listing of the last seven days of AOA.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea this week!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?

If winter ever gets its act together and drops more snow on us, there will be sidewalks to shovel. And shortly after that, Albany will... (more)
