A quick recap of the week

week review 2011-10-15

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Jen asked about where she could her boots resoled and a coat relined.

+ Skidmore, Union, and RPI are still expensive -- just relatively less so.

+ A local director is shooting a web series about what happens when a super villain faces her greatest challenge: motherhood.

+ Mary asked about where to find Victorian clothing for the Victorian Stroll.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: Occupy Albany, Storm King, best weekend ever, EMPAC, a no electronics rule, new doctors, sleep, not shopping at Price Chopper, Meat House, a stellar meal, Jake Moon, freezing amazement, City Beer Hall, rare pear, coffee, donuts, the Adirondacks, letting it mellow, and crazy philosophy.

+ Siobhan talked with the director of FilmColumbia about some of the highlights of this year's film fest.

+ The Albany Police Department said it'd be cracking down on drivers running red lights -- it sounds like they'll have plenty of opportunity.

+ Siobhan visited the Shaker Mountain Canning Co., which is canning produce from local farms.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: fate interceding at Chili's, one lady's desire to farkle, two guys in the market for a mother, and a chicken coop.

+ Nick shared a day trip to Salem, Massachusetts.

+ Rainbows. Rainbows. Rainbows.

And Round 2 of the 2011 Tournament of Pizza!

+ Mama Mia's took on Amore in the Saratoga bracket.

+ Defending overall champ Marino's took on 5th and 50 in the Schenectady bracket.

+ Giuseppe's faced DeFazio's in the Troy bracket.

+ Pizzeria Sapienza took on Marisa's in the Albany bracket.

+ And we crunched the numbers on 2.5 tournaments worth of Tournament of Pizza results. We've eaten a lot of pizza.

Thanks to everyone who's helped out with the TOP this year!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
