A quick recap of the week

week review 2011-10-22

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ The Troy food co-op closed.

+ This week's My Exit person was Jerry -- derryX.

+ We gave away tickets to see Lewis Black at the Palace by asking: What about today's world drives you crazy?

+ We checked out the Occupy Albany general assembly -- and had a few observations and thoughts.

+ Big discussion about that word for Troy -- you know, it rhymes with toilet.

+ Which made us wonder what you call people from the Capital Region's various cities, towns, villages, and hamlets. (Cohosier might be out favorite.)

+ Daniel says eat this: pupusas at Flores Family Restaurant.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: hunting the white whale in Washington Park, Occupy, Sneaky Pete's, the creative process, Andrew Bird, Trader Joe's, brilliant chaat, a restaurant full of happy people, a winning appetizer, chocolate milk, parenting, flu shots, pumpkins, bloody-looking hands, and the hall of fame.

+ Wendy told us about the tour of the Stockade's haunted spots.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: a chance lost at the raffle because of a beard, a mentoring teddy bear, eye candy in a tool belt, a giant pumpkin, and a life-size Elvis.

+ The Google Streetview images are being updated online for the Capital Region.

+ Katelyn wins for best lunch spot this week.

+ Chad asked about where to find a good carving pumpkin.

+ The Occupy Albany protest began Friday. Here are some of the people who were there -- and why.

And the oh-so-exciting end of this year's Tournament of Pizza:

+ There was a surprising crash-and-burn in the semi-finals.

+ And the two shops in the final did not disappoint.

Thanks for everyone's help with the TOP this year!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
