A quick recap of the week

week review 2011-12-17

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ We shared a metric ton of photos from the always-fun Santa Speedo Sprint.

+ Soapbox: Martin told us about 7 of his favorite buildings in Albany.

+ Capitol to Capital asked about which local radio stations are your car radio presets.

+ Sibohan told us about a toy hospital in Rensselaer County -- where dolls and teddy bears go when they need to be repaired.

+ Daniel B got a tour of the ham at Rolf's in Albany -- and says you should eat the Schwarzwälderschinken.

+ Leigh asked about where to get a custom t-shirt made.

+ The Time Warner Cable Yule log channel is now in 3D.

+ The Jonesville Store is closing -- goodbye to their delicious pancakes (at least, for now).

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: Mingle, the Brown Bag, Santa Speedo Sprint, commuting in Washington Park, Christmas trees by the pound, local Etsy, holiday tipping, wish lists for the local food scene, maple cream, General Tso, dog food, Boom Boom Brannigan, Saratoga rumors, and a saw-wielding angel.

+ Donna asked about places to shop for fresh fruit and vegetable in/around downtown Troy.

+ Chef Carmine Sprio is returning with a Brazilian-style restaurant in downtown Albany.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: the cute factor for dorks, appreciation via arthropod, a food truck, and a bullet proof vest.

+ Anonymous asked about ways to volunteer around Christmas. (We're still looking for a few more suggestions.)

+ Slingerlands is getting a ShopRite -- and, if things fall into place, a tech park.

+ Barry asked about where to buy a whole fish.

+ Cecelia told us about Sticky Fingers Candy Apples in Troy and Cohoes.

And more local holiday wish lists!

+ Matthew Carefully
+ Katie Beltramo from Capital District Fun
+ derryX Jerry Papandrea
+ Erik Dollman
+ Ethan Georgi from Life After Programming

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
