A quick recap of the week

week review 2010-11-06

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Emily's hen was chicken-napped!

+ We got a tour of that tiny house on State Street in Albany.

+ There was a stir about Wegmans coming to the Capital Region -- and then the chain threw cold water on it.

+ Two local comics imagined what went on behind the scenes at Rent is 2 Damn High Party HQ.

+ Jason sent along Halloween Freak-out photos.

+ Colonie has become the epicenter of the Capital Region's cupcake boom.

+ Bill Clinton was in Saratoga to campaign for Scott Murphy (Chris Gibson still won).

+ Tuesday was Election Day -- and Andrew Cuomo was elected to be the next governor of New York. Here's a quick scan of election results.

+ We put together an informal exit poll for Election Day -- results part one and results part two. People aren't confident about the direction of the state.

+ The new voting setup... a bit less private.

+ Jessica R asked for good consignment shops for professional clothes.

+ We got a look at the soon-to-be-open Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Troy.

+ Carl told us about the Albany Penitentiary, which housed "the vilest dregs of society."

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: the Miss Albany Diner, wild things, Election Day wisdom, llamas, Halloween, a trail race, meatballs, barbecue, containers, cupcakes, a walking stick and a Parisian bandit.

+ Martin asked about good places to get his car cleaned (we're still looking for suggestions).

+ Andrew Cuomo will be braving the "eerie desolation of Albany" to spend time at the Governor's Mansion -- Sandra Lee maybe not.

+ A few of the items found on Craigslist this week: a person in need of sheep, a peacock, and a pageant of ugly free couches.

+ The lineup of restaurants on Lark Street re-shuffled.

+ Ryan asked about the best burgers in the Capital Region.

+ And we've started to sort through applications for the associate editor position. There's still time to apply.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
