A quick recap of the week

week review 2012-02-03

Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:

+ Soapbox: Elisabeth shared why she's proud to have graduated from Albany High School -- and what she hopes for its future.

+ Cassie asked about where to have a tea party.

+ Rob wondered if people thought an aquarium would be a good project for Albany. The resounding majority answer: yes.

+ Eat this: Daniel shared the top-ranked sandwich from the Tour de Egg Sandwich.

+ Jessica asked about a good place to get a birthday cake.

+ Our "Resolution shmezolution!" drawing asked people: What do you think is just too much? There were a lot of fun answers.

+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: Columbia County, fun in Vermont, the Radix Center, a coyote, Troy's beautiful city hall, Edith Wharton, an angel with attitude, local radio, mini hot dogs from scratch, BYOB, CSA, Sunday yoga, school bus habits, Saratoga ointment, and an eggplant.

+ We stopped by Old Songs in Vorheesville to hear how they're teaching people to play old-school instruments like the accordion and penny whistle.

+ The start of February didn't feel like the start of February.

+ The bats aren't faring well against White Nose Syndrome.

+ The story of how a fashion-obsessed guy got bounced in Saratoga -- for wearing a tux.

+ The GE turbine plant in Schenectady will make an appearance during the Super Bowl.

+ We looked into why there's an organic milk shortage.

+ The Miss Albany Diner was sold.

+ And a local bakery started selling Buffalo chicken wing cupcakes. Yep. So, we ate one.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
